is Christina (Bomar) Michael and I am the Owner of Ships Ahoy Child Care
and a Master Teacher. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have
been working with children since 1994, starting out in a daycare
setting. I then moved on to work at Camp Waluhili summer camp where I
had once been a camper myself. Eventually I worked as the Assistant
Director of a Girl Scout summer camp. I loved teaching the children new
things while being outdoors and forming mentoring relationships with the
children that have lasted throughout the years. I graduated from
Northeastern State University with a Bachelors degree in Family
Relations and Child Development.
moved to Florida and began working with the Department of Children and
Family Services (DCF) as a Family Case Manager. I worked to assure the
safety and well-being of children who had been abused or neglected, and
assisted these children and their families with services they needed to
reach their goals. I then was promoted to a Case Manager Supervisor
position where I learned the skills to manage a group of Case Managers
and their cases. As much as I understood how important my job was in
protecting children, and working to make the families better, I missed
working one on one with children, and finally decided to follow through
with my dream to open a child care center.
